Information on Strength Training
Your fitness health training routine should include aerobic fitness, muscular fitness, stretching, core exercise and balance training at a minimum. A well rounded fitness training program is important whether you are just starting out or whether you are an exercise fanatic.
Aerobic fitness, also known as cardio or endurance exercises, causes you to breathe faster and more deeply, which maximizes the amount of oxygen in your blood. The more effectively your heart, lungs and blood vessels carry oxygen through your body, the easier it is for you to complete routine activities in your daily life. Aerobic exercises are any physical activity that uses most of your muscles and increases your heart rate. Walking, jogging, biking, swimming, dancing, snow shoveling and vacuuming are all considered aerobic exercises.
Muscular fitness should also be included in your fitness health training program. Strength training can help you increase bone strength and muscular fitness. It can also help you retain muscle during a weight loss program. There are a wide selection of resistance machines, free weights and other tools available for strength training.
Stretching your muscles will improve the range of motion of your joints and also help relieve stress. Most aerobic and strength training activities will cause your muscles to contract and flex so it is important to include stretching in your health and fitness training for a balanced routine.
Core exercises involve the muscles in your abdomen, lower back and pelvis. Core muscle exercises will help brace your spine and allow you to use your upper and lower body muscles in a more effective manner. Core exercises are any exercises that use the trunk of your body without support such as abdomen crunches or working with a fitness ball.
Balance training needs to be included in your workout routine even if you are strong, flexible and aerobically fit. Something as simple as standing on one leg for increasing periods of time will improve your balance and overall stability. Balance will deteriorate with age but balance training can help by preventing falls.
Incorporating all of these different types of exercises in your fitness health training routine will provide you with a well rounded fitness program.
