on Personal Training

Why did you decide to become a personal trainer?  Was it your love of exercise or the thrill of helping others reach their health and fitness goals?  Understanding and remembering your passion for fitness will help you prevent personal trainer burnout.  With clients who are dedicated and excited about their workouts, co-workers who share common interests and ideals, and constant access to exercise equipment, being a personal trainer is a rewarding career choice.

Unfortunately, you’ll most likely end up with a few clients who make it difficult to stay passionate about your work.  Some clients are going to cancel at the last minute or show up 20 minutes late for their appointments.  Others are going to expect you to lift the weights for them or maybe just wave a magic wand at them and transform their bodies on the spot.  While some clients are going to increase your passion as a personal trainer, there will be others that try to stomp out any type of enjoyment you might have for the job.  So how do you prevent personal trainer burnout?

There are a couple of changes you could make to minimize your stress level.  Make sure your contract states the amount of time that is required to cancel an appointment prior to the start of the session to avoid being charged for the entire missed session or a penalty amount.  You might want to set up a prepayment plan for your clients.  Typically, if people have already paid for your service, they are more likely to utilize it.

As a personal trainer you should get to know your clients likes and dislikes such as any hobbies they enjoy or what types of music they like to listen to.  Simply have them fill out a short questionnaire, ask them in your introductory conversation or talk to them over a period of time.  You can use this information to tailor their workouts and increase the enjoyment they receive from your fitness training.  If your clients are having a good time, it will decrease the amount of problems that might come up later.

Of course, your burnout might not have anything to do with a conflict with clients.  When you spend all day helping and pleasing your clients, sometimes it’s very easy to forget that you also need to take some time for yourself.  Even if you only spend 10 to 20 minutes a day doing something relaxing and for yourself, you’ll find that it is easier keep your passion alive.  Take a look at your schedule, make some necessary changes and prevent personal trainer burnout.

Winsor Pilates Workout System

The Winsor Pilates Advance Workout System is a fitness and weight loss system created by Mari Winsor, a well know fitness expert.  The workout system gives you the benefits of Pilate exercises without having to spend a lot of money for specialized training.

Typically we think that lifting weights is the only way to get toned or that performing hardcore cardio workouts is the only way to get fit, but Pilates provide users with a fast and effective way to tone and sculpt muscles while increasing weight loss gains.  Pilates have been used for years by individuals who wanted to get into shape and stay that way, but individual classes can be quite expensive.  The Winsor Pilates Advance Workout System offers an affordable alternative to individuals who are interested in this type of training.

Pilate exercises strength the muscles deep in your torso by teaching you to be aware of your breath as well as the alignment of your spine.  These exercises are based on the principle that by strengthening the core of your body other health benefits would also be realized.  The Winsor Pilates workout is based on the concept of removing toxins while sculpting the body through a weight loss process and using a whole body approach to fitness and conditioning by strengthening the core of your body.

The Winsor Pilates system includes five DVD’s that give basic step-by-step instructions for the following: a 20 minute workout, bun and thigh sculpting, ab sculpting workout, and accelerated body sculpting allowing you to reshape and tone your entire body as well as help with meal planning.  The appeal of this type of program is that you can see almost instant visible results in the tightening of your abdominal muscles.  The Winsor Pilates Advance Workout System does not require any special equipment which makes it an ideal at home fitness program.

Personal Training Certification

Anyone who is interested in becoming a personal fitness trainer, exercise consultant or an overall fitness professional should consider getting a personal training certification. Typically the trainer certification programs will cover topics about body building, exercise physiology, weight management, weight training and personal training. If you are looking at a career as a personal trainer, you should also have first aid and CPR training prior to working with any clients. Most fitness centers and gyms will require their personal trainers to have a current CPR card.

Obtaining a personal training certification identifies you as a legitimate trainer and indicates you have been through some type of workshop, seminar or home study course. There are many organizations that certify personal trainers so you need to consider a couple of things when choosing the certification organization where you will take your training.

The number one most important factor to consider is whether the certifying organization has been accredited. An accreditation process requires that certifying organizations have their certification procedures and protocols accredited by an independent third party. This one factor alone could save you tons of money (because of all the scams out there) and will also provide you with the credentials that will allow you to have clients at some of the top rated gyms and fitness centers.

If there is a specific gym that you want to work for, find out if they require a specific personal training certification before you review and choose a certifying organization.
